Joe Voci, former vp comedy programming at CBS, has died. He was 51.
Voci, who also oversaw production of The Wonder Years, died Feb. 7 in New Jersey after a long fight with brain cancer, his rep confirmed.
Voci started his TV career at New World Television, where he worked on the Fred Savage-starring sitcom The Wonder Years. In his post at CBS, he oversaw such series as Murphy Brown, The Nanny and Designing Women, helping the network rise from No. 3 to No. 1 in two years.

After leaving CBS in 1994, Voci ran production company JVTV and was a partner at Mandalay Television. In his first development season in 1998, all three of his pilots were picked up to series.
Voci also helped launch the Pussycat Dolls brand by producing specials and performances for the group.
He is survived by his mother, Kass; brothers Frank and Anthony; sister Valerie and two nieces. The family asks that donations be made to Cedars Sinai.
