Wednesday was another night of overall growth for the broadcast networks. After a resilient Tuesday, the week continued to bring improvement for many series — including Fox’s recently renewed freshman 9-1-1.
The drama climbed 20 percent in its third episode, matching its premiere score among adults 18-49, with a 1.8 rating. That had it tying an also improved Modern Family on ABC for top program of the evening. It helped deliver an overall demo win to Fox, which started the night with a steady episode of The X Files (1.1 adults).
NBC’s trio of dramas — The Blacklist (1.1 adults), Law & Order: SVU (1.4 adults) and Chicago P.D. (1.4 adults) — were all modestly improved for the night. On CBS, The Amazing Race (1.5 adults) and Criminal Minds (1.0 adults) were steady on either side of a lifted SEAL Team (1.1 adults).
Aside from Modern Family, ABC saw lifts for The Goldbergs (1.7 adults) as well as steady episodes of Speechless (1.3 adults), American Housewife (1.3 adults) and Match Game (0.8 adults).
Riverdale returned to a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 on The CW before a new Dynasty (0.2 adults).
