With the first of two Wednesday episodes airing, NBC’s The Voice dipped in the ratings.
Compared to Tuesday’s performance, The Voice sank a significant amount, averaging about 9.8 million total viewers and drawing a 3.3 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic during the 8:30-9 p.m. half-hour, according to preliminary numbers. (On Tuesday, the competition series drew 11.97 million and a 4.3 in its 9-11 p.m. time period.)
Two possible explanations for the ratings slip: Viewers were not aware that The Voice was airing on back-to-back nights and the live broadcast of the presidential address which caused programming to run in inconsistent time periods. Final numbers should be in later.
Even so, a new America’s Got Talent during the 9:30-10 p.m. half-hour (13.2 million, 3.9) topped the night in viewers and the demo.
Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (2.1), from 8:30-10 p.m., slipped 22 percent due to the live presidential address.
Ratings Bottom Line: NBC continues on its winning streak.
