Cooking shows filled Thursday night on the broadcast networks, though they didn’t exactly dominate.
The Big Bang Theory, winning the night even with a repeat, helped CBS lead the night with adults 18-49. The encore was followed by The Great Indoors (1.4 adults), Mom (1.3 adults) and Life in Pieces (1.2 adults) — all down with their smaller lead-in, but strong enough to secure an overall win. Pure Genius, steady with a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49, closed out the night.
Second-place status for the night was shared by NBC and Fox. NBC was dead even with its roster of comedies and dramas — Superstore (1.2 adults), The Good Place (1.1 adults), Chicago Med (1.2 adults), The Blacklist (1.0 adults) while Fox launched a new series after Hell’s Kitchen.
It wasn’t a miserable start for My Kitchen Rules, which kicked off with a 0.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers, but it was the poorest showing for a culinary series that night. Lead-in Hell’s Kitchen was ahead with a 1.2 rating in the key demo, while the finale of ABC’s The Great American Baking Show also outdid My Kitchen Rules with a 1.0 rating in the key demo and a formidable 5.1 million viewers.
ABC wrapped up the night with special Taking the Stage. It nabbed a 1.0 rating in the key demo itself.
