The big news from Tuesday, besides another nightly win for The Voice, was the end of Bones.
Fox’s longest-running drama ever signed off after 12 seasons on the air. And while its final showing, a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers, was pretty modest — both numbers did mark double-digit increases from the previous episode.
Bones has been on the air for so long that it’s almost unfair to bring up its ratings heyday. (But it was quite the run, so I will.) At its height, the series’ sixth season, it was averaging 11.6 million viewers and a 3.6 rating among adults 18-49 per episode after a noted boost from syndication. The following decline was relatively slow, but its age was evident in this last season. Bones‘ latest live-plus-seven day averages give it 5.5 million viewers and a 1.4 rating in the key demo.
Elsewhere on Fox, New Girl and The Mick were incrementally up. They shared a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49.
But NBC was tops with The Voice and its 2.1 demo rating. Trial & Error, airing another two episodes, was off a shade from last week with 1.0 and 0.8 ratings among adults 18-49. The 10 o’clock hour perked back up with Chicago Fire earning a 1.4 rating.
NCIS was steady and dominant among total viewers, averaging an audience of 14 million and also ranking No. 2 in the demo for the night with a 1.6 rating. Bull (1.3 adults) and NCIS: New Orleans (1.1 adults) followed.
ABC aired repeats, while the CW posted new outings of The Flash (0.8 adults) and Legends of Tomorrow (0.6 adults).
