Bucking most rules of TV ratings convention, Empire grew again in its third outing on Fox — rising more from its already formidable premiere. Compared to last week, Empire was up by three-tenths of a point to a 4.3 rating among adults 18-49. The drama, already renewed for a second season, again stands as the highest-rated series of Wednesday night.
It followed a similarly lifted American Idol (3.3 adults), up three-tenths as well from last week. The pair easily gave Fox another nightly win in the key demo.
CBS had steady episodes of The Mentalist and Stalker, each averaging a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49, on either side of Criminal Minds. The 9 p.m. drama dropped three-tenths of a point to a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49.
On NBC, Law & Order: SVU (1.2 adults) dropped two-tenths of a point from last week ahead of a steady Chicago P.D. (1.5 adult).
Both Arrow (1.1 adults) and The 100 (0.6 adults) matched their most recent scores on The CW.
