Broadcast’s fitness-friendly reality offerings this midseason don’t have much in the way of ratings power. After Wednesday’s mediocre debut of Strong, the NBC show dropped to a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 in its Thursday outing.
The night, which faced some competition from CNN’s Democratic debate, also saw the entrance of Fox’s own spin on feats of strength in an an unscripted arena, American Grit. The show pulled a 0.8 rating in the key demo as well, drawing fewer viewers as well with an average 2.4 million.
Strong and American Grit‘s ratings would not look quite so rough if NBC hadn’t launched an alternative hit just over a month ago in Little Big Shots.
The night belonged to ABC, which offered up two hours of dominant Thursday series Grey’s Anatomy. The show pulled a steady 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 before a new episode of The Catch (1.0 adults).
CBS saw a repeat of The Big Bang Theory before an even Odd Couple (1.5 adults), Mom (1.5 adults) and Rush Hour (0.9 adults) — with 2 Broke Girls slightly improved to a 1.5 rating in the key demo.
NBC’s The Blacklist (1.3 adults) and Fox’s Bones (0.9 adults) both made steady returns to the schedule as well, while NBC’s second outing of Game of Silence sank in its official time slot. It lost more than 40 percent of its sampling earlier this week for a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49.
