It’s nearly May, but broadcast premieres are beholden to no calendar. NBC offered up its latest comedy on Tuesday night, dropping the first two episodes of Great News.
The sitcom managed a solid 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers in its first outing at 9 p.m. — in line with the recent debut of another Tuesday comedy, Trial & Error. In its second episode, Great News held reasonably steady in the key demo with a 1.0 rating.
Great News had help from The Voice. The competition, which aired before the comedy at 8 p.m., was even with last week’s 1.8 rating among adults 18-49. At 10 p.m., Chicago Fire pulled a 1.3 rating — securing NBC’s demo victory for the night.
CBS and ABC aired mostly repeats, though they did venture into originals later in the primetime block. ABC had a new Imaginary Mary (0.8 adults) and Agents of SHIELD (0.6 adults), while CBS had new entry 48 Hours: NCIS, which earned a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49.
The trio of Fox offerings — Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.7 adults), The Mick (0.8 adults) and Prison Break (0.9 adults) — held last week’s scores.
And, on The CW, the return of The Flash perked up to a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. That made it the No. 2 show during the 8 o’clock hour. Its return lifted iZombie, which fetched a 0.4 rating.
