ABC easily topped Thursday night with its trio of Shonda Rhimes-produced dramas. In a play to maintain interest by airing fewer repeats between originals, it also marked the last new episodes until January. All three episodes were billed as fall finales.
Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder shared a 3.1 rating among adults 18-49. And while that score was steady for Scandal, it marked a two-tenths of a point improvement in the key demo for Murder. Grey’s Anatomy (2.4 adults) also matched last week’s score.
The night’s top performer, across the board, was The Big Bang Theory — though the CBS comedy did drop half of a point to a 4.0 rating with adults under 50. CBS saw a NFL preemption in San Francisco and Oakland, so that could go down even more when finale live-plus-same day ratings come in. As for the rest of the lineup, Mom (2.7 adults) was steady with last week’s series high. Two and Half Men (2.3 adults) improved by two-tenths, and The McCarthys (1.4 adults) and Elementary (1.0 adults) were both flat.
NBC had NFL preemptions of its own in Kansas City. After a steady Biggest Loser (1.3 adults), Bad Judge (1.2 adults) and A to Z (0.9 adults) had three-tenths of a point bumps — and Parenthood (1.5 adults) jumped half of a point from last week’s series low.
Both Bones (1.3 adults) and Gracepoint (0.8 adults) were steady on Fox. The Vampire Diaries (0.8 adults) and Reign (0.4 adults) also held on the CW.
