The Good Fight opened for business Sunday with a special preview airing on CBS.
The Good Wife spinoff, the first-ever original scripted series for CBS All Access, drew a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49 — down five-tenths from the 1.2 rating drawn by The Good Wife‘s final season premiere and the series finale in May. That demo rating was also down from NCIS: LA’s most recent new episode in the same time slot (1.4 adults).
The series followed 60 Minutes (0.9 adults), which was down three-tenths.
However, what might be of more interest to CBS is the 7.2 million who tuned in for the Good Fight premiere — and whom the network is no doubt hoping will subscribe to CBS All Access to watch future episodes of the Christine Baranski-led drama. The streamer released the first two episodes of the series online Sunday to coincide with the drama’s linear launch. All future episodes will only be available on the streaming platform.
Moving back an hour, NCIS: LA dipped three-tenths to a 1.1 rating, but still tied as the night’s top program with Fox’s The Simpsons (1.1 adults). An even showing of Elementary (0.7 adults) followed.
ABC led the night despite To Tell the Truth falling three-tenths (0.7 adults) in its later time slot, pushed back to 10 p.m. by a showing of Tangled (1.0 adults). America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.0 adults) was flat.
NBC’s three-hour 90th anniversary special was soft, averaging a 0.7 rating.
Fox was steady with even showings of Son of Zorn (0.7 adults), Family Guy (1.0 adults) and Bob’s Burgers (0.9 adults).
