On the heels of Tuesday’s record low opener for the World Series, game two saw some improvement on Fox — at least according to overnight ratings. Metered markets give the Kansas City Royals’ rebound against the San Francisco Giants a 8.8 rating.
That’s a 10 percent improvement from the opener’s preliminary ratings, leaving it on par with the second game of the 2012 series. Ahead of time zone adjustments, the preliminary showing in the key demo of adults 18-49 is steady with the first game.
On the nonsporting front, most series were steady or dead-even against the new competition from baseball. ABC and CBS led the battle for second place in the demo.
ABC’s entire lineup — The Middle (2.0 adults), The Goldbergs (2.2 adults), Modern Family (3.3 adults), Black-ish (2.5 adults), Nashville (1.4 adults) — was steady with their most recent live-plus-same-day showings. And on CBS, Survivor (2.2 adults), Criminal Minds (2.4 adults) and Stalker (1.7 adults) all held as well.
Also solid were The Mysteries of Laura (1.3 adults), Law & Order: SVU (1.6 adults) and Chicago PD (1.5 adults) on NBC.
The CW saw a fixed Arrow (0.9 adults) followed by the return of The 100. The drama tied a low in live-plus-same-day showings and dropped four-tenths of a point from its midseason series premiere last spring.
