Courtesy of SHOWTIMEMuch as The Walking Dead finale didn’t slow down last week’s Shameless, the Game of Thrones premiere did not seem to dampen Sunday’s Shameless finale. The Showtime dramedy notched another most-watched night with a gross 2.83 million views — narrowly besting the record set last week.
The 9 p.m. premiere, which posted a finale best 1.93 million viewers, was up from last year’s finale by 100,000 viewers. Gross viewership rose by 440,000 viewers.
As it did last week, the highs also extended to 10 p.m. with House of Lies. The series averaged 1.4 million viewers for a finale best, up 200,000 year over year. The original telecast took in 731,000 viewers.
Shameless is currently tracking to have its highest-rated season to date with a gross weekly viewership of 5.7 million viewers, up 7 percent from the same period last year. House of Lies is on par with last year’s gross viewership of 3 million weekly viewers.
Next Sunday, April 13, Showtime moves doc series Years of Living Dangerously into the 10 p.m. hour. The network announced Monday that it’s already begun sampling the first episode on numerous platforms — including YouTube, the Showtime website, On Demand and Showtime Anytime.
