The Patriots-Colts match-up proved a particularly strong one for Sunday Night Football. NBC saw the game climb 29 percent in preliminary figures to a tentative 7.5 rating among adults 18-49. And that’s before the time zone adjustments that will surely see the number climb even more.
Football performed especially well in Boston. The Patriots’ home market brought an overnight rating of a 44.6 in households. That’s an all-time high in the city for a Patriots’ Sunday Night Football showing.
On the other networks, CBS had a new episode of 60 Minutes (2.6 rating with adults 18-49), Madam Secretary (1.1 adults) and The Good Wife (1.0 adults). For Madam Secretary, that was a four-tenths of a point dip from last week.
On ABC, America’s Funniest Home Videos (0.8 adults) was off three-tenths of a point from last week’s premiere before the trio of dramas all held with last week’s scores. Once Upon a Time and Quantico led with an average 1.6 rating among adults 18-49, while Blood & Oil only grabbed a 0.9 in the key demo.
Fox’s foursome of comedies — The Simpsons (1.6 adults), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (1.2 adults), Bob’s Burgers (1.0 adults), The Last Man on Earth (1.1 adults) — was also steady with the previous week.
