President Trump’s early release of his 60 Minutes interview didn’t affect the show’s ratings: It drew its biggest audience in more than two years.
The CBS newsmagazine delivered 17.4 million viewers on Sunday, its largest audience since March 2018. The hour, which followed an NFL game, featured interviews with Trump, Democratic nominee Joe Biden, Vice President Mike Pence and Biden’s running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, ahead of the election. Trump released raw video of the interview, shot by the White House, on Thursday after complaining that 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl was unfair with her questioning.
NBC’s Sunday Night Football recovered some from the prior week’s multi-year low to score 14.31 million viewers, not far off from last year’s broadcast opposite the World Series (14.89 million, during the sixth week of the NFL season). For the season so far, SNF is running about 17 percent behind 2019.
Game five of the World Series on Fox drew its biggest audience so far — 10.06 million viewers. Saturday’s fourth game came in at 9.33 million viewers, pushing the series average so far to 9.16 million, still far behind the previous all-time low of 12.64 million in 2012.
ABC’s Supermarket Sweep dropped off in viewers in its second week, falling from 4.9 million to 3.68 million, but its adults 18-49 rating was more steady, losing just a tenth of a point to 0.9.
On Saturday, NBC’s Saturday Night Live had its second biggest audience of the season with 7.03 million viewers and was steady in adults 18-49 with a 1.4. ABC’s primetime college football game drew season highs of 5.12 million viewers and a 1.4 in the 18-49 demo.
Hallmark kicked off its holiday movie slate over the weekend with two solid showings, averaging 2.67 million viewers for a pair of original films, Jingle Bell Bride and Chateau Christmas.
