The latest — make that the twentieth — iteration of The Bachelor brought good news to ABC on Monday night. The franchise returned on even footing from its comparable opener last January, averaging a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 7.5 million viewers. Aftershow Bachelor Live only managed to retain half of its showing. It debuted to a 1.1 rating with adults 18-49.
NBC’s Superstore might be a good fit at 8 o’clock after all. With last week’s additional sample episode cratering in the little-watched holiday gap, Monday’s official premiere averaged a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 6 million viewers for the new comedy. Network neighbor Telenovela was not quite so robust, though with a 1.3 rating in the key demo it was more or less flat with its own post-The Voice preview.
NBC’s night was slightly dampened by the two-hour premiere of The Biggest Loser. The reality competition averaged a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers.
Business as usual was good for CBS, which led the night in the key demo. Both Supergirl (1.8 adults) and Scorpion (2.1 adults) rose three-tenths of a point from their last original outings in early December. The solid performance extended to the 10 o’clock hour, where NCIS: Los Angeles won the time slot with a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49. That’s up two-tenths of a point from its last episode.
Two-hour competition Superhuman averaged a 1.2 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers for Fox.
