Few series emerged unscathed from widespread ratings drops on Wednesday night. Most broadcast fare stumbled, week to week, with several reaching series lows in same-day reports as the season nears its close.
ABC topped the Big Four, though the network started the night on a slightly softer note for The Middle (1.7 adults) and The Goldbergs (1.9 adults), down a respective three- and two-tenths of a point in their adults 18-49 ratings. Modern Family (2.9 adults) held its ground at 9 p.m., while Black-ish (2.3 adults) was the night’s lone grower across the board. The comedy was up by three-tenths of a point. Nashville (1.2 adults) wrapped the night on a steady note.
Wednesday series held on CBS. Survivor (2.1 adults), the finale of Criminal Minds (1.9 adults) and CSI: Cyber (1.2 adults) were all in line with last week’s scores.
After a steady Mysteries of Laura (0.9 adults), Law & Order: SVU (1.2 adults) and Chicago P.D. (1.4 adults) both stumbled to series lows after last week’s crossover-boosted outings. The series saw respective week-to-week drops of nine- and four-tenths of a point in the key demo.
American Idol pulled a 1.5 rating with adults 18-49 on Fox, in line with last week’s episode. The CW saw both Arrow (0.9 adults) and Supernatural (0.7 adults) hold with last week.
