Thursday night TV was all about sports, which meant dips for most broadcast scripted series.
Hourlong dramas faced both the dominant NFL match-up on CBS, up a notch from last week in preliminary returns for preliminary 3.1 rating among adults 18-49 that will rise considerably in the finals, and the MLB postseason game between the Mets and the Dodgers — the latter on track to be the night’s highest-rated cable offering. (Complete baseball ratings available later on Friday.)
Grey’s Anatomy was the only series on ABC’s TGIT block to not lose any ground. The series averaged a steady 2.2 rating among adults 18-49. Scandal, with a 2.3 rating in the key demo, was off three-tenths of a point. How to Get Away With Murder, netting a 2.0 rating, was off by two-tenths.
Heroes Reborn (1.1 adults) and The Blacklist (1.4 adults) were reasonably steady on NBC, though The Player dropped again. The drama averaged just a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49. That’s down two-tenths of a point from last week’s score.
Both Bones (1.1 adults) and Sleepy Hollow (0.8 adults) dropped two-tenths of a point on Fox. And, on the CW, Vampire Diaries (0.6 adults) and The Originals (0.5 adults) were steady with last week’s premieres.
