The formal introduction of Tayshia Adams as The Bachelorette led to the ABC show hitting a season high in adults 18-49 for the second straight week. It led all of TV, including NBC’s This Is Us, in the key ad demographic in primetime, although the latter had more total viewers. Fox News’ Hannity was No. 1 on cable.
The Bachelorette‘s 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic was the best of the season for the show, edging out last week’s 1.6. It averaged 5.3 million total viewers over its two hours, off a little from last week’s 5.61 million. A pre-CMA Awards special, CMA: Country Strong, followed with a 0.4 in the demo and 2.21 million viewers.
This Is Us came down a little from its premiere two weeks ago, drawing a 1.3 in adults 18-49 and 6.85 million viewers (numbers that will grow substantially with delayed viewing). The Voice (1.1, 7.64 million) ticked up in the demo, and Transplant (0.5, 3.94 million) was down from its last airing but a little ahead of its season average.
No other original show on the broadcast networks got above a 0.3 in the 18-49 demographic. On cable, Hannity led primetime in both total viewers (5.19 million) and the key news demo of adults 25-54 (1.1 rating). Fox News averaged 4.56 million viewers in primetime, leading MSNBC (2.91 million) and CNN (2.7 million). History’s The Curse of Oak Island was the top entertainment show in both viewers (2.85 million) and adults 18-49 (0.5).
