Canadian import Transplant got off to a decent start Tuesday, drawing a modest rating in the key ad demographic of adults 18-49 but pulling in a good-sized total audience. An NBA playoff game on ABC led primetime in the 18-49 demo.
Transplant is helping NBC bridge the gap between summer and fall as its returning scripted shows are set to premiere mostly in November. The medical drama drew a 0.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.96 million viewers, leading the 10 p.m. hour in the latter figure and scoring NBC’s biggest audience in the time period since June 30. Its lead-in, America’s Got Talent, was steady in the demo at 0.7 and grew by about half a million viewers (to 6.11 million) over last week. It adjusted up to 0.8 in adults 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers in the finals.
Game 7 of a first-round playoff series between the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz drew a 1.0 in adults 18-49 and 2.73 million viewers from 8:30-11 p.m. on ABC, pending updates for the live broadcast. The game delivered ABC’s best Tuesday of the summer in the 18-49 demographic.
The game had a fairly good-sized upward adjustment in the finals, finishing with a 1.2 in the demo and 3.39 million viewers.
CBS’ Love Island improved week to week, earning a 0.4 in the demo and 1.72 million viewers (vs. 0.3 and 1.48 million last week). The CW’s Dead Pixels and Tell Me a Story (both 0.1) were steady.
ABC averaged a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 to lead primetime, pending updates. NBC came in second at 0.6. CBS and Univision tied for third place at 0.4 and were followed by Telemundo (0.3), Fox (0.2) and The CW (0.1).
As of Monday, Nielsen is including out-of-home viewing in its final daily ratings, though not in the fast national figures cited above. This post will be updated with any significant changes to the numbers.
