As the season finale of The Voice nears, the NBC reality singing competition continues to sing a winning song.
NBC topped Tuesday ratings with the help of The Voice (12.6 million total viewers, 4.4 rating in adults 18-49) as the four finalists competed for the last time. Remaining steady for the most part, Carson Daly announced during the telecast the mini-tour the top four Dia Frampton, Beverly McClellan, Javier Colon and Vicci Martinez would take part in. At 8 p.m., America’s Got Talent (12 million, 3.2) provided a solid lead-in. Again, NBC dominated in viewers (12.4 million) and the demo (3.9).
ABC’s three-hour block was no competition for the NBC heavyweights. At 8 p.m., Wipeout (5.5 million, 1.8), rising 6 percent from last week’s season premiere. Rookie unscripted series 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show (5.) and summer medical drama Combat Hospital both sank from their series openers last week. Even so, ABC was a distant second in the key demo behind NBC, averaging a 1.6 for the night.
Meanwhile, Fox’s MasterChef (4.2 million, 1.7) — in the middle of a scandal with a faked crowd shot — was down 6 percent from last Tuesday. The series placed third in the demo in its 8 p.m. time slot, behind America’s Got Talent and Wipeout.
