The Walking Dead continues to demolish the ratings competition.
AMC’s zombie drama averaged 8.7 million adults 18-49 on Sunday night, a 6.8 rating. Not only does that make it the highest-rated TV outing of the past week, it outpaces direct competition from Sunday Night Football by 8 percent. This marks the second weekend in a row that The Walking Dead has outperformed the sports flagship.

NBC’s latest NFL outing, in line with last week’s performance that went up against the World Series, averaged 8.1 million adults 18-49 (a 6.3 rating) in time-zone adjusted returns.
Football posted an obvious advantage in total viewers, though The Walking Dead was improved from the week prior. The episode, this season’s fourth, was up over 300,000 to 13.3 million viewers.
With DVR, The Walking Dead‘s fourth season is easily ranking as the top show on all of TV — outpacing all other efforts in the key 18-49 demo in Live+Three, let alone Live+Seven returns.
