NBC’s three Chicago dramas swept primetime on Wednesday, each winning its respective hour in adults 18-49 and total viewers. They also led among adults 25-54 and trailed only a pair of cable programs in the younger 18-34 demographic.
On cable, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show continued its winning streak among total viewers, while Fox News eked out a primetime win in the key news demo of adults 25-54.
Chicago Med was Wednesday’s most watched primetime show with 7.2 million viewers, to go with a 0.91 rating among adults 18-49. Chicago Fire led the 18-49 demo with a 0.93 and was second overall in total viewers at 6.95 million. At 10 p.m., Chicago PD drew a shade under 6 million viewers and a 0.88 in adults 18-49.
A primetime Price Is Right special on CBS performed solidly with a 0.77 in adults 18-49 and 4.89 million viewers. SEAL Team (0.54, 4.2 million) and SWAT (0.4, 3.08 million) were in line with their season averages. ABC’s comedy block (averaging 0.49 and 3.06 million viewers from 8-10 p.m.) and For Life (0.3, 1.53 million) were down, as were Fox’s Masked Dancer (0.57, 2.74 million) and Name That Tune (0.59, 2.67 million). Riverdale and Nancy Drew were steady for The CW.
The Rachel Maddow Show gathered 3.74 million viewers on MSNBC, leading the cable rankings over Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight (3.58 million). Fox news led the 25-54 demo in primetime with 463,000 viewers, just ahead of the 450,000 for MSNBC. An NBA telecast (Lakers-76ers) on TNT led cable in adults 18-49 with a 0.65, and MTV’s The Challenge: Double Agents topped the 18-34 demo, just ahead of the NBA game.
