WGN America debuted its second original series on Sunday night, screening Manhattan three times.
A total 1.8 million viewers watched the period drama about the Manhattan Project, 459,000 of them adults 18-49. Its 9 p.m. premiere telecast took in just over 900,000 viewers.
TV REVIEW ‘Manhattan’
Like all networks, WGN America is banking on boosts from live-plus-3 data — especially since the scripted newcomer is still only on a single feed and in just 71.4 million homes. To reach an even bigger audience, the network aired the premiere on 33 local Tribune affiliates last night as well. That accounts for roughly 400,000 of its nightly haul, though not all affiliate ratings were immediately available.
The first series on WGN America’s ever-expanding scripted slate, Salem, debuted in April to 2.3 million viewers.
Manhattan is produced by Lionsgate Television and Skydance Television with Tribune Studios. The network has already renewed Salem for a sophomore season, with the Ten Commandants miniseries also on deck for 2015.
