NBC has found its post-Olympics show.
The network has gone straight to series on a 10-episode reality competition game show Ultimate Slip ‘n’ Slide. Hosted by comedians and actors Bobby Moynihan (NBC’s Mr. Mayor) and Ron Funches (The Goldbergs), the series will launch with one episode on Sunday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 p.m. PT — immediately after the Summer Olympics Closing Ceremonies.
“NBC is proud to be the home of some of the biggest and most outrageous physical competition shows and we’re thrilled to add this larger-than-life version of the classic backyard game to our summer lineup,” said Jenny Groom, the recently installed executive vp unscripted content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “What better way to celebrate all the gold medals from the Olympic Summer Games than to give everyday people the opportunity to soar down an extraordinary 65-foot-tall slippery yellow slide.”

Described as a “fresh” take on Wham-O’s popular 1960s outdoor game, the series transforms the backyard slide into a real-life water park filled with gigantic slippery rides and the chance to win a big cash prize. Siblings, friends, couples and colleagues will all compete in multiple rounds of the game that includes challenges like Human Bong, Body Bowling, Cornhole and Bocce Fall.
Traditionally, NBC in the past has used the Olympics to help launch buzzy new scripted originals. Before the summer games were delayed amid the pandemic, NBC had planned on launching Kenan coming out of the Olympics. The Kenan Thompson comedy has already launched (and been renewed) on NBC.
Ultimate Slip ‘n’ Slide will join a roster of NBC physical competition shows including The Titan Games, American Ninja Warrior, The Wall and newly ordered series including Family Game Fight and The Wheel.
The series is produced in-house at Universal Television Alternative Studio and Propagate. Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Gregory Lipstone, Kevin Healey, Tom Forman, Jenny Daly, Todd Richards, Bruce Kaufman, Shye Sutherland Sharp, Tina Nicotera Bachmann and Keith Geller exec produce.
