Nick Cannon is pulling double duty for NBC.
As first reported by TV Guide, the judge of reality talent series America’s Got Talent has booked a recurring role on the network’s upcoming Christina Applegate-Will Arnett starrer Up All Night as Calvin, the co-host of Ava’s (Maya Rudolph) TV talk show, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
In addition, Jennifer Hall (Castle) has been cast as Missy, Ava’s somewhat bumbling assistant.
Cannon and Hall will both recur on the comedy, which premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14 behind the season finale of Talent, before moving to its regular time period the following week.
The castings come shortly after NBC announced that it would be expanding Rudolph’s role and shifting her character’s employment from a public relations firm to a TV talk show. Applegate stars as Ava’s producer, with Arnett as her husband, a stay-at-home dad.
