U.S. producer Intrigue has optioned the format rights to the Quebec psychological thriller Appearances.
The award-winning 10-episode one-hour drama, which airs on Radio Canada, tells the story of one twin sister, a school teacher, who goes missing on their 40th birthday. It leaves the other twin, a well-known actress, with her life upended.
The Montreal-based Pixcom also sold the option for the Appearances format to French producer Samka.
Pixcom already has three U.S. versions of its original Canadian formats airing stateside: Thrift Hunters on Spike, Dangerous Flights on the Smithsonian Channel and Restoration Garage on Velocity.
Pixcom is producing a new drama, Karl/Marx, for Quebec’s TVA network, which will star Charles Lafortune and Guy Jodoin.
