USA Network continues to make a big drama push for 2015.
Colony, created and exec produced by Cuse and Hercules‘ Ryan Condal, is a naturalistic drama about a family that’s torn by opposing forces and makes difficult decisions as its members balance staying together with surviving the struggle of the human race. Set in the near future, the story takes place in Los Angeles, which exists in a state of occupation by a force of outside intruders. Some people choose to collaborate with the authorities and benefit from the new order, while others rebel and suffer the consequences.

The drama marks a Lost reunion for Cuse and Josh Holloway, who stars in Colony as Will Bowman, a former FBI agent who — in a bid to protect his family — is forced to collaborate with the occupational government to bring down the growing resistance movement inside the L.A. colony. The role marks Holloway’s second post-Lost gig following CBS’ short-lived drama Intelligence, which was his first series regular role since ABC’s island-set drama.
The Walking Dead alum Sarah Wayne Callies co-stars as Katie Bowman, a mother of three who struggles daily to keep her family safe and united in an occupied Los Angeles. Matters are further complicated when her husband, Will, is forced to collaborate with the colonial government. The role marks Callies’ return to the small screen following her memorable turn as Lori Grimes on AMC’s zombie drama.
For USA Network, Colony becomes the NBCUniversal-owned cable network’s fourth new series on tap for 2015. The network recently picked up hacker drama Mr. Robot, starring Christian Slater; event series Dig; and Matt Nix‘s Jason O’Mara vehicle Complications.
Colony joins a roster of original dramas that includes Graceland, Royal Pains, Suits and Satisfaction.
Cuse, meanwhile, now has four shows on the air: FX’s The Strain, A&E’s Bates Motel and The Returned and a possible fifth, with pilot Point of Honor in contention at Amazon.
