From Uzo Aduba’s vibrant red-carpet style to her tear-jerking acceptance speeches, the Orange is the New Black star is a force to be reckoned with on the awards-show circuit. So leave it to the Nigerian-American beauty to have one of the best hair looks of the SAG Awards on Saturday night.
The Orange Is the New Black star, who took home her second win as best actress in a comedy for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, turned to celebrity hairstylist Larry Sims to create her podium-worthy wind-swept hairstyle.

The inspiration? “Like she was caught up in the wind of all the SAG madness that was going on,” says Sims, who began the primping process by wrapping Aduba’s hair from root to tip with a one-and-a-quarter-inch curling iron, then used a hairdryer to give her coif a “blown look.”
Using got2b Beach Trippin’ Salt-Infusion Wave Spray ($5.99) to infuse her hair with a wavy, undone feel, Sims then wrapped Aduba’s hair loosely from left to right, using his fingers to manipulate the shape as he pinned locks beneath her ear.
“I created volume with my fingers like its back-combed,” explains Sims, who set the look in place with bobby pins (“I left the flyaways and imperfections live — I wanted it to look like the pieces fell into place”) and a misting of Osis Finish by Schwarzkopf Session Extreme Hold Spray ($22), followed by Smooth ’N’ Shine Spray-On Polisher ($5) for extra shine.

“More than anything, the hair is about the shape and the texture that we created,” says Sims. “It lends itself to the dress and the makeup.”
