Bayer, the longest-serving current female castmember, joined SNL as a featured member in 2010 before being promoted to a full castmember two years later. She rose to prominence on the show for her impersonation of pop star Miley Cyrus and later starred as the popular “Weekend Update” correspondent Jacob the Bar Mitzvah Boy.
Bayer announced the news on her Instagram. “Thank you SNL for 7 years of laughs, love and incredible memories. It has been a dream come true. And thanks for this goodbye sketch at the table, Colin,” Bayer captioned a photo of lyrics to Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman” rewritten to be about her, presumably by castmate Colin Jost. The rewritten lyrics reflected Bayer’s time on the show with lines such as, “She plays little boys, but she’s always a woman to me,” and, “She’s the funniest, sunniest person you’ll see, then we hide like a child cuz she thinks we should try a Miley,” alluding to Bayer’s impersonation of the singer.

Outside of SNL, Bayer’s credits include roles in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck and last year’s Office Christmas Party.
The news follows the recent announcement that fellow castmate Bobby Moynihan will also leave the show after this week’s season finale, after nine seasons. Moynihan will star in his own CBS show, Me, Myself and I, which was picked up to series and films in Los Angeles.
