Carrie Fisher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sarah Silverman and ILiza Shlesinger will be among the industry figures appearing at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will host a gala at the Canadian yukfest. And Veep star Louis-Dreyfus is set to appear in Montreal for a conversation about her HBO political comedy; she will be joined onstage by castmembers Tony Hale, Timothy Simons and showrunner David Mandel.
Just for Laughs also booked Sarah Silverman to perform solo at Maison Symphonique in Place des Arts, while ILiza Shlesinger, host of TBS’ relationship game show Separation Anxiety, will do two performances at Place des Arts. As Montreal brings undiscovered and unattached comic talent to perform and possibly snag film or TV deals in front of Hollywood execs and scouts, Just for Laughs also tapped radio personality George Wallace to host its New Faces: Unrepped comedy showcase.
The 34th Just for Laughs Festival previously announced appearances by Lewis Black, Howie Mandel, Russell Peters, Hannibal Buress, Kathleen Madigan, Dom Irrera, Janeane Garofalo, Cameron Esposito and Corrine Fisher. The Montreal festival is set to run July 13 to 31.
