Comedian Matt Walsh is turning to fans for help on his next feature film.
The co-founder of Upright Citizens Brigade launched on Thursday an Indiegogo campaign for improvised comedy A Better You. Walsh is asking fans to contribute $52,650 by April 21 to help cover the film’s postproduction costs.
A Better You, co-written by Walsh and Brian Huskey (This Is the End), stars Huskey as a hypnotherapist in the midst of a midlife meltdown. Comedians Horatio Sanz (Saturday Night Live), Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), Natasha Leggero (Chelsea Lately), Rob Huebel (The Descendants), Jo Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Andrew Daly (Review) also star.

“Brian and I decided to base A Better You in the world of hypnotherapy because so many people in L.A. go to hypnotists to get their lives in order. The film explores the world of hypnosis and the desperation of L.A.,” he said. “What I love about improvised comedy films is that you can capture real behavior as it’s happening for the first time.”
Walsh, who stars on HBO’s Veep, has already finished shooting most of the film, he told fans on the film’s Indiegogo page, but needs financial help to finish it. Backers can contribute between $5 and $20,000 to help cover the cost of sound mixing, color correction, soundtrack and other work. Some of the perks for big donors include a master improv class taught by Walsh and a private dinner with the cast.
A Better You is Walsh’s second directorial feature following the 2011 improvised comedy High Road.
