Fans of History’s Vikings won’t have to wait until the show’s return to find out more about the new world created following the disappearance of Ragnar following the showdown with his brother Rollo. This September, Titan Comics will launch a new comic book series that reveals what happened in the immediate aftermath of the series’ midseason finale.
Vikings: Uprising won’t focus on Travis Fimmel’s disgraced head of Kattegat nor Clive Standen’s ambitious sibling, however; instead, it’ll follow Ragnar’s ex-wife Lagertha (played by Katheryn Winnick on the show) as she escapes events in Paris, only to find herself forced to bear arms to prevent even more bloodshed and slaughter once she returns home.
The miniseries is the second Vikings comic from the publisher — the earlier Vikings: Godhead comic book sold out of its debut issue and went back to press — and sees writer Cavan Scott return to team with Batman and Wolverine artist Staz Johnson and explore what happened during the time jump of the show’s fourth season midpoint.
The first issue will be available for pre-order in July, with five covers by artists Chris Wahl, Mark Hammermeister, Claudia Caranfa, Verity Glass and Josh Burns, which can be seen below. The series will launch digitally and in comic book stores Sept. 14.
