NBC is looking to the team behind Extant for its next procedural.
The network has handed out a pilot order to Reverie, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
It is described as a grounded and dramatic thriller revolving around a former detective specializing in human behavior who is brought in when the launch of an advanced virtual reality program has dangerous and unintended consequences.

Extant creator Mickey Fisher will pen the script and executive produce the Universal Television drama. Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will reunite with Fisher and exec produce. Fisher’s manager, Brooklyn Weaver, also will exec produce.
Reverie arrives more than a year after CBS canceled Halle Berry sci-fi drama Extant after a two-season run in the summer. Extant was Fisher’s first TV project and was picked up straight-to-series under CBS’ summer model.
The NBC pilot comes as broadcast networks have been putting new technology-related twists on the tried-and-true procedural. CBS this season launched tech-inspired medical drama Pure Genius and Fox next will look to a billionaire to help reinvent the cop drama with APB.
Reverie marks NBC’s third drama pilot pickup of the season. It joins military drama For God and Country as well as soap Good Girls.
Fisher is repped by WME and Energy Entertainment’s Weaver.
