Season 15 of NBC’s The Voice continued with more Blind Auditions on Tuesday night. Coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson competed for the top artists, hoping to solidify their teams ahead of the Battles.
First up was Caeland Garner, singing a soulful cover of “Dancing in the Moonlight” by King Harvest. Garner noted that he’s friends with former contestant Red Marlow. He had a similar rock-country vibe, and it got Hudson and Shelton to turn. Garner unsurprisingly chose Team Blake.
Madison Cain failed to turn any chairs with her growly rendition of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know.” Clarkson noted that she should have brought more emotion to the performance. She ended up being chosen for the show’s online series The Comeback Stage.
The next artist, named Lela, performed “Havana” by Camila Cabello, singing some of the song in Spanish. She gave a standout rendition and showcased impressive range and style. Clarkson turned first, but Hudson joined shortly after. Lela landed on Team Jennifer.
Cody Ray Raymond next sang Albert King’s “Born Under a Bad Sign,” while playing electric guitar. He gave a gritty blues performance and secured turns from Clarkson and Hudson. Surprisingly, Levine didn’t turn, but he ended up regretting it. Raymond chose Clarkson as his coach.
Singing “When the Stars Go Blue” by Ryan Adams, Jake Wells only managed to get a turn from Levine with his smooth falsetto. He joined Team Adam by default.
Abby Cates auditioned next and sang Alessia Cara’s “Scars to Your Beautiful.” She had huge range and a powerful voice, hitting the high notes with ease. Only Clarkson turned, though, so she ended up on Team Kelly.
Funsho closed out the night singing “Finesse” by Bruno Mars. He also impressively hit some high notes, and Levine, Hudson, and Clarkson all turned. Levine called him one of the best vocalists to ever be on the show. That did the trick: Funsho joined Team Adam.
The Voice will wrap up the Blind Auditions during the first hour of its episode next Monday, followed by an hour of Battles.
