On the second night of Blind Auditions, The Voice season 15 brought back coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson to listen to more hopefuls.
First up was Keith Paluso, a singing park ranger obsessed with birds. He sang “Way Down We Go,” and he had a growly folk-country voice, accompanying himself on the guitar. Shelton turned first, and Levine tried to join but Shelton had blocked him. So Paluso joined Team Blake.
Claire DeJean followed with a performance of “Hurt Somebody” by Noah Kahan, showcasing an indie singer-songwriter vibe. Shelton turned first, and Clarkson was waiting to hear more of her upper register. She did end up turning at the last minute, and DeJean was very overwhelmed to get two turns. DeJean joined Team Kelly.
Up next was Franc West with a gritty cover of “(Sitting On) The Dock of the Bay,” and it wasn’t pitch-perfect, but Hudson turned eventually, and West joined Team Jennifer by default.
Michael Lee auditioned with “The Thrill Is Gone,” and his bluesy voice captured the ears of Shelton, Levine and Hudson, who even did her signature shoe-throwing move. Clarkson backed Hudson, arguing that there’s no one else on her team like him. Lee joined Team Blake.
Ele Ivory, who works in artist relations but wants to jump-start her own music career, followed with a pop performance of “Jump” by Julia Michaels. She had some pitch issues and failed to turn any chairs. She was given a second chance by being invited to the show’s online series The Comeback Stage.
Hoping to literally turn things around with his performance, DeAndre Nico auditioned with “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. He sang with a lot of emotion and had a strong presence, earning an early turn from Levine. Hudson joined, and pretty soon it was a four-chair turn for Nico. He picked Levine since he was the first to turn.
