[Warning: this story contains spoilers through season eight, episode three of AMC’s The Walking Dead, “Monsters.”]
We’re three episodes deep into “All-Out War,” and the secret weapon on Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) side of the battlefield has yet to be unleashed in full.
No, we’re not talking about Shiva, King Ezekiel’s (Khary Payton) ferocious tiger sidekick — though it sure looks like the Kingdom’s deadly mascot will truly join the fray as soon as next week. Instead, it’s another killer close to Ezekiel: Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), the most efficient and versatile soldier in Rick’s entire army.
Through three episodes of The Walking Dead season eight, Carol has been walking in lockstep with Ezekiel and others from the Kingdom, marching toward a fight the King feels confident about winning. The fight started at the end of this week’s episode, “Monsters,” and it looks to continue in earnest in the upcoming fourth installment of the season, delightfully titled “Some Guy.”
Carol stands front and center in a sneak peek at “Some Guy,” stalking through a hallway with body armor strapped on and an automatic rifle at the ready. She hides out as members of the Saviors start sauntering through the space, big and boisterous and clearly completely unaware that the woman who destroyed Terminus and the Wolves almost single-handedly is lurking just around the corner.
