Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead comics on which the AMC drama is based, has inked a deal that will bring his Skybound comics to Asia.
Kirkman’s Image Comics imprint Skybound, through the deal with Moving Images, will see the writer’s comics including The Walking Dead, Super Dinosaur, Witch Doctor and The Infinite gain distribution in Asia through Skybound Asia, with the venture being based in Singapore.

“The next step for Skybound and The Walking Dead in particular is the evolution into a global brand,” said Kirkman. “Partnering with Moving Images to form Skybound Asia is the first logical step toward that goal. It will allow us to gain a foothold in emerging markets in order to bring Skybound comics and products to an entirely new fan base.”

WhileThe Walking Dead comics have previously been available as imports, the deal will see the long-running zombie series be distributed specially for local markets. Beyond comic distribution, the pact also includes marketing, merchandising and participation in regional conventions including this month’s Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention set for Aug. 20-21.
“[Kirkman] has a huge fan base in Asia that is growing by leaps and bounds,” Moving Images founder Figo Fuad said.
As founder and CEO of Skybound, Kirkman handpicks and publishes up-and-coming comic creators in addition to developing projects.
