Jeff Tobler has been promoted to the newly created position of senior vp television publicity and communications at Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Marketing. In his new role, Tobler will lead the PR team for the independent studio’s scripted programming. He will report to Lisa Gregorian, president and chief marketing officer at Warner Bros. Television Group.
Tobler will have oversight of all consumer PR and strategic business communications related to Warners‘ scripted TV production units, including WBTV, Warner Horizon, Warner Bros. Animation, Blue Ribbon Content and more. All told, the studio is behind more than 60 scripted series across various platforms.
Tobler, a well-liked and respected executive, will work closely with Warners‘ vp publicity and communications Robert Pietranton on business and trade communications related to scripted programming. Blake Bryant will continue to oversee marketing and PR for unscripted programming produced via Warner Bros. Unscripted and Alternative Television’s production units.
“Jeff is an extremely creative and highly skilled communications executive with an impeccable track record of sustained excellence,” Gregorian said Wednesday in a statement. “He has worked his way through the ranks here at the company, first at The WB [Network] and then as part of the team that launched The CW, and he has been an integral part of Warner Bros. Television publicity since 2011. We are excited by the knowledge, passion and energy that Jeff will bring to his leadership of the group as well as the continuity in maintaining WBTV publicity’s stature as the best in the business.”
The promotion comes after Tobler had served as vp PR since November 2015. During that time, he was the chief strategist for special PR initiatives including for events like San Diego Comic-Con, South by Southwest and TCA. Tobler also oversaw show campaigns for The Leftovers, Shameless, Disjointed and 2 Broke Girls, overseeing Chuck Lorre comedy Mom‘s participation in the White House Champions of Change event in 2016. He has been with Warners since 2011, starting as a manager of publicity on shows including The Voice and Nikita. Before coming to the studio, Tobler held roles at The WB Network, The CW and NBC.
Golihew started her role as director of publicity at Amazon Studios on Monday.
