Ahead of Sunday’s hosting gig at the Emmys, Jimmy Kimmel joined James Corden on The Late Late Show on Thursday night, along with Bridget Jones’s Baby stars Renee Zellweger and Patrick Dempsey.
The two hosts discussed their late-night shows (apparently Corden has better dressing rooms) before moving on to what to expect at the Emmy Awards.
Kimmel told Corden that he has no plans to win (Corden and Kimmel are both competing in the variety talk show category), so he’s “probably going to take that opportunity to cry for 90 seconds or so.”
Corden suggested that whoever wins the best variety talk show should carry on hosting the show. “I would be more than happy to head home at that point in the show,” Kimmel responded.

Earlier in the show, during a game of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” where the two hosts had to choose a disgusting food to eat or answer a Truth or Dare-style question, Kimmel refused to answer who his least-favorite late-night host is, so he had to drink ghost pepper hot sauce.
Kimmel asked Corden, “Were you as miserable doing ‘Carpool Karaoke’ with Britney Spears as it looked like you were?” Corden claims he “wasn’t miserable at all.”
Corden, did, however, admit that he thinks he’s a “better singer than Jimmy Fallon.” So that gauntlet has been thrown.
Kimmel is set to host the 2016 Primetime Emmys for the second time on Sunday night, airing on ABC. Kimmel and Corden, competing against one another in the variety talk category, are both up against Jerry Seinfeld (Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee), John Oliver (Last Week Tonight), Bill Maher (Real Time) and Jimmy Fallon (Tonight Show).
Kimmel recently spoke to the The Hollywood Reporter about his early career and why he refused to campaign for an Emmy of his own this year saying, “It makes you feel like a real piece of shit, in a way. People shouldn’t vote for you because they like you or they met you at a bowling alley; they should vote for you if they think you’re the best one. And I don’t see myself doing that kind of thing ever again.”
