WE TV is building on its successful Braxton Family Values, ordering a spinoff series revolving around Tamar Braxton and her husband.
The female-skewing cable network has ordered eight hourlong episodes of Tamar & Vince, an unscripted series revolving aroundthe youngest sister featured on the network’s Braxton Family Values.
“Tamar & Vince is a great addition to WE tv’s schedule, especially as we expand into a third night of original programming catering to the underserved audience of African-American women that love Braxton Family Values,” WE tv president and GM Kim Martin said Monday in a statement announcing the news. “Tamar is a huge part of what’s made that show such a success; she is completely over the top and our viewers just love her!”
Set to bow in fourth-quarter 2012, the series will revolve around Tamar and her husband, Vincent Herbert, as she launches her solo album to his career as a music producer. Production will begin in March. Tamar & Vince will offer a look at the couiple’s relationship and how they adjust their lifestyle as Vince recovers from a recent life-threatening health scare.
Magical Elves (The Real L Word) will produce, with Annabelle McDonald on board to oversee for the network.
Braxton Family Values, which features singer Toni Braxton and her family, returned in November for its second season, launching to become basic cable’s top telecast for women 18-34, up 108 percent compared with its Season 1 bow.
