In the era of Peak TV, there’s more new television airing each week than ever before.
To help keep it all straight, The Hollywood Reporter will compile a roundup of the week’s biggest trailers for new and returning shows, as well as episodes that should not be missed.
In this week’s roundup, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are back for season three of Grace and Frankie, Kristen Wiig reunites with SNL‘s Will Forte on Fox’s Last Man on Earth and Katherine Langford makes her TV debut in 13 Reasons Why.
Turn up the volume, pay attention and grab some popcorn to watch the hottest TV promos of the week.
Grace and Frankie
Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are back for the Netflix dramedy, and this time their characters are selling … vibrators. The promo teases a “new chapter” for the duo in season three. Plus co-stars Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen bust a move.
13 Reasons Why
Netflix’s new original series, exec produced by Selena Gomez, is based on Jay Asher’s YA book of the same name. It centers on teen Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette), who returns from school to find a box of cassette tapes from his classmate, Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), on his porch. Hannah, Clay’s former crush, killed herself two weeks earlier. Through Hannah and Clay’s dual narratives, 13 Reasons Why weaves an intricate and heart-wrenching tale of teenage life, tackling the tough topics of depression, bullying and emotional abuse. Private Practice favorite Kate Walsh co-stars in the series, which features direction from Spotlight‘s Tom McCarthy.
From executive producer David Fincher, the the Netflix drama is based on the 1996 book of the same name and explores the FBI’s elite serial crime unit. Holt McCallany, Anna Torv and Jonathan Groff star.
Netflix has released the first teaser for comedian Dave Chappelle’s forthcoming stand-up special, due March 21.
Last Man on Earth
It’s a Saturday Night Live reunion this Sunday on Fox’s Last Man on Earth when Kristen Wiig appears on star Will Forte’s Fox comedy. Check out a glimpse of her sure-to-be memorable debut.
Amy Schumer: The Leather Special
“I don’t know if you guys know this, but this past year I’ve gotten very rich, famous and humble,” Amy Schumer quips in the Netflix original comedy special. Wearing leather in a stand-up show, the actress is teased as “100 percent Fearless” with “0 percent shame.” “Every comic has some special where they wear all leather and they regret it later. It’s my f—ing moment! Leather special, already regret it,” Schumer closes the trailer for the special, which hits Netflix on March 7.
Creators Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano return to voice season two of the animated series, which comes back to HBO on March 17.
Blood is boiling in Big Little Lies‘ Monterey. The first two episodes of the limited series have shown Laura Dern’s Renata and Reese Witherspoon’s Madeline facing off, and in this sneak preview of episode three this showdown just got more entertaining. We’ll leave you with this: “I’ll even get Snow White to sit on your husband’s face.”
Mireille Enos and Peter Krause are back for the soapy Shondaland drama. In season two, the trailer promises the “sexiest, steamiest, sassiest rom-con around.” The couple close out the trailer with Krause’s character saying, “We’re not going to shoot each other, are we?” Showrunner Allan Heinberg noted that the sophomore drama will be embracing comedy more as part of its season two reboot.
Time After Time
Don’t let the title fool you. Although the H.G. Wells-inspired series follows a young Wells as he travels through centuries to present-day 2017, time travel, is “a very rare occasion,” series creator and executive producer Kevin Williamson says. Time travel will only appear in four of the first 12 episodes. The series premieres Sunday on ABC and stars UnREAL alum Freddie Stroma and Revenge‘s Josh Bowman.
Lest anyone forgets what else is debuting, here’s a full list of what shows are premiering and returning this upcoming week:
