Production on Westworld has been impacted after actor Zahn McClarnon was injured.
“Actor Zahn McClarnon was hospitalized Wednesday night after sustaining an injury at home,” HBO said in a statement Friday. “He is on the mend and looking forward to getting back to work. Westworld will resume filming on both units next week.”
McClarnon is recurring on the upcoming second season of the big-budget series, which resumed production in July for an expected 2018 return.
Although HBO did not initially reveal his identity, the pay cabler confirmed Thursday that filming on one of the show’s two units had been temporarily halted after the injury.
“Due to a medical emergency involving a performer in a recurring role on season two of Westworld, filming on one of the two units has been temporarily suspended,” the network said in a statement Thursday. “The castmember was not on set when this occurred, and out of respect for the performer’s privacy, we have no additional details to share, other than that everyone at Westworld sincerely hopes for a quick recovery.”
A rep for McClarnon, whose other credits include Fargo and Longmire, did not immediately return request for comment.
During season one, production shut down for two months between December 2015 and February 2016 so that the writers could catch up on scripts. However, co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan told THR in March that he and co-showrunner Lisa Joy planned to have all 10 episodes for season two written before production began to avoid similar issues.
HBO and Warner Bros. TV co-produce the ambitious series, which is based on the film of the same name.
TMZ first reported the news.
