“It is happening again.”
The famous Twin Peaks phrase might actually make some sense to the characters in the Wet Hot American Summer universe now that the action has moved into the early 1990s. Netflix has dropped the first official trailer for the upcoming sequel series, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, and as the title promises, it takes place … well, 10 years after the original movie and the First Day of Camp prequel series that bowed in 2015.
Ten Years Later follows through on one of the great promises from the original David Wain film, when the Camp Firewood counselors gather together for a staff meeting and decide to reunite at some time 10 years in the future. Actually, a pretty specific time: 9:30, to be exact, because McKinley (Michael Ian Black) has something at 11:00, and he can’t change it because he’s already moved it twice. Looks like these late-20-somethings have made good on their promise, as the trailer sees the Firewood alumni reuniting at camp for the first time in years — just in time for Beth (Janeane Garofalo) to sell the place.
Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later features a massive cast, including returning players Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, newcomers like Adam Scott and Alyssa Milano, and more. Make it your beeswax to be there when the eight-episode series starts August 4 on Netflix.
