As WGN America readies the debut of Salem, the network is rolling out the first teaser for its second scripted entry, Manhattan.
Set against the backdrop of the greatest race against time in the history of science — the mission to build the world’s first atomic bomb in Los Alamos — Manhattan follows the brilliant but flawed scientists and their families as they attempt to coexist in a world where secrets and lies infiltrate every aspect of their lives.

John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C) plays Frank Winter, the professor who is commissioned to help lead the Manhattan Project. In the 45-second promo, Frank sets the tone with an ominous message: “In war, secrets save lives. At home, secrets destroy everything you love. You’re going to want to tell people the truth about what we’re working on, what we’re building. You’re going to have to lie. We all have to make sacrifices. This is yours.”
The new footage premieres Sunday during the 10 p.m. ET premiere of Salem, WGN America’s first scripted drama.
Olivia Williams, Daniel Stern, Ashley Zukerman, Rachel Brosnahan, Christopher Denham, Katja Herbers, Harry Lloyd, Michael Chernus and Alexia Fast co-star. Manhattan, a 13-episode drama, hails from Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex) and is directed by Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing).
Manhattan premieres in the summer.
