The White House and CNN insiders don’t agree on much recently, and that trend continued Monday, when a spokesperson for President Donald Trump denied that senior policy adviser Stephen Miller had to be escorted out by security after an interview with Jake Tapper a day earlier.
Miller’s interview with Tapper was extremely contentious, and ended when Tapper decided to abandon the segment and move on to other subjects. “I get it — there is one viewer that you care about right now and you’re being obsequious, you’re being a factotum in order to please him,” Tapper said, ending the interview. “I think I’ve wasted enough of my viewers’ time. Thank you.”
According to a CNN source, the drama didn’t end there. “The segment was over and Mr. Miller was politely asked to leave the set multiple times,” the source said. “After refusing to leave, he was escorted out by security.”
Deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley contested that narrative during a “gaggle” with reporters on Monday. “He left on his own will,” Gidley said.
CNN had no immediate response to Gidley’s comments about Miller’s departure.
