For those who missed Eric Garcetti’s mayoral fundraiser/Moby concert Feb. 7 at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood, the campaign Wednesday released actor Will Ferrell’s three-minute video tribute to the councilman.
“You’re probably thinking, ‘Who cares what some strikingly handsome actor thinks,’ ” Ferrell says in his endorsement of Garcetti. “But I’m not just an actor; I’m also a native Los Angeleno, a father of three and a business owner. And I want a city that is vibrant and healthy for my three sons and my four illegitimate children to grow up in. That’s why I’m voting for Eric Garcetti. Eric’s track record as a city council member on promoting economic growth, reducing crime and his vision for the future of L.A. are unmatched among the other candidates.”

In the video, which was played at the fundraiser as a warm-up for Moby, Ferrell jokes that he and Garcetti became friends while they were newborns at the same hospital.
“For years it was known if you messed with Eric, or E Squared as we called him, then you messed with Ferrell, or Sweet Buns, as I called myself,” Ferrell quipped, adding that if Garcetti is elected mayor there will be free waffles every Tuesday morning for everyone in Los Angeles.
“Eric has always been there for me, and now it’s time to let Eric Garcetti be there for Los Angeles.”
