With the presidential election on everyone’s minds, shoppers turned to a political comedy for entertainment the week ended Nov. 4.
Warner Home Video’s The Campaign, a farce starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as rivals seeking a congressional seat, topped both Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert chart, which tracks overall disc sales, and its dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart for the week. The film had earned $86.8 million at the domestic box office.

Coming in a close No. 2 on First Alert was Disney’s Secret of the Wings in its second week of release, following a top finish the week before. The direct-to-video Tinker Bell adventure sold 96 percent as many discs as Campaign.
The edge for Campaign may have been its Blu-ray tally, with 41 percent of its sales in the HD format. Secret, with a 32 percent Blu-ray share, landed at No. 3 on the Blu-ray chart, slightly behind DreamWorks’ Madagascar 3.
