Three familiar faces are coming back to Will and Grace.
Alec Baldwin, Blythe Danner and Sara Rue are all set to reprise their guest-starring roles in upcoming episodes of the NBC revival, which is in the midst of airing its 16-episode comeback season on NBC, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Baldwin, who has been busy playing President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, will return as Karen’s (Megan Mullally) former lover Malcolm Widmark. The series will welcome back Danner and Rue as Will’s (Eric McCormack) mother, Marilyn Truman, and Grace’s (Debra Messing) sister, Joyce, respectively.
When Will and Grace fans last saw Malcolm, the government agent had helped Karen’s husband, the never-seen Stan Walker, fake his death. He had a brief romance with Karen before she and Stan reconciled, and Malcolm left on a government mission to Sri Lanka.
As for Marilyn and Joyce, Will and Grace‘s family members are likely returning for heartfelt storylines. Ahead of the revival’s launch, co-creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick told viewers to expect tributes to both Sydney Pollack, who played Will’s father, and Debbie Reynolds, who played Grace’s mom. Both actors died before filming on the revival began.
When recently asked by a fan on Twitter about which guest star he’d most like to see return, McCormack named Danner as Will’s mom, adding, “Adore her.”
Mary McCormack and Robert Klein will also guest-star. No episode dates have been announced.
The trio of former guest stars join Harry Connick Jr., Minnie Driver, Leslie Jordan and Molly Shannon in returning to the series. Bobby Cannavale and Jennifer Lopez are also set to reprise their roles — Lopez in a dual role and Shades of Blue crosssover — in upcoming episodes.
The newly announced stars close out the comedy’s guest roster on the revival season, which includes the likes of Vanessa Bayer, Cheyenne Jackson, Nick Offerman (who played a different character than his guest stint on the original run), Ben Platt, Jane Lynch, Andrew Rannells, Kyle Bornheimer and more.
Will and Grace, which also stars Sean Hayes and airs Thursdays at 9 p.m., has already been renewed for another 13-episode season.
