Will & Grace is tapping a Tony Award winner for its highly anticipated return.
Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt is set to guest-star on an upcoming episode of the NBC revival.
Stars Eric McCormack and Sean Hayes broke the news Thursday on social media, sharing a photo of the core ensemble surrounding the breakout Broadway star.
Platt will appear on the Oct. 5 episode of the NBC revival. It is not yet known who he is playing.
During its original eight-season run, Will & Grace was famous for snagging A-list talent for guest roles. Guest stars included Madonna, Cher, Matt Damon, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Douglas and Britney Spears, among many others.

The guest role kicks off a banner year for Platt, who won a Tony in June for his star-making turn in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. His other credits include the Pitch Perfect franchise, Ricki and the Flash and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. He is repped by CAA, One Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman.
On Will & Grace, Platt joins returning guest star Harry Connick Jr., who is confirmed to reprise his role as Grace’s (Debra Messing) ex Leo. The reboot recently kicked off production with its first live taping of the season on Wednesday.
At the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour last week, NBC ordered four more episodes of the first season of the revival and also greenlit a second season.
The return of Will & Grace is set to premiere Thursday, Sept. 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
