Winona Ryder longtime friendship with fashion designer Marc Jacobs is well documented. She’s even modeled for his print ads before. So it’s not surprising the actress is the face of the spring campaign for her bestie’s beauty brand. What is surprising, however, is that it’s her first time appearing in a beauty campaign.

The first peek at Ryder in the spring 2016 ads was “leaked” Monday on Instagram by Jacobs, and shows her in a seemingly retro-inspired look against a mirror, featuring dark, defined brows, white and black cat-eye liner and nude lips. Apparently she’s wearing “our fine liner eye crayon, velvet noir mascara and new nudes lipstick,” according to Jacobs’ caption.
The shoot was photographed by David Sims, with makeup by Diane Kendal, and if this first image is any indication, it was a smashing success. In a long caption, Jacobs wrote, “[Ryder] does not model the look she gets into the role — and exudes it! A brilliant mind, talent, and physical beauty like no other.” For her part, the Beetlejuice star told Allure that since she’s not a model — she needed a little help posing. Of Jacobs, she said, “He doesn’t go for cookie-cutter women, for lack of a better expression. To me, all of his muses are gorgeous but in a very unique and ageless way.”

Ryder also admitted to being “quite terrible” at applying makeup. “[I’m] very, very lucky that I don’t need to wear a lot in my everyday life. I’ve always just stuck to tinted moisturizer and you know…I’ve spent my life having other people apply it, and it’s weird because you would think that I would have picked up all these amazing tips but it’s actually quite the opposite.” Regardless, we can’t wait to see more of this campaign — #4evawinona, indeed.
